Diana Bulimar And Larisa Iordache Aim On Being Successful All Arounders In 2013

A new year is a time where we set our sights on new goals. As for Olympic gymnast Diana Bulimar, she aims on being a successful all arounder.

Romania's Diana Bulimar gave an interview to Prosport where she expressed her confidence on winning medals in the all around competitions only if she did not go through injuries "No injuries, doing the All-around, performing well because if I do, then medals will follow."

Today is not only a beginning of a new year in gymnastics but also a beginning of a new code of points which will prevail in the next four years in the sport. Just like the other gymnasts, Bulimar is working on new elements and routines that suits the new code. She is adding new elements and also upgrading her difficulty. She is going to upgrade her vault so she can compete powerfully in the all around.

Last October, the Romanian head coaches took a decision on making the Romanian gymnasts wear grips during performing on bars, Bulimar was one of the gymnasts who refused at first to wear them, but eventually she got used to it "It took us a while to get used to them, I sometimes have the feeling that my hands will slip but it’s much better now. We know this is in our own best interest" said Bulimar.

When asked about last year, the 17 year old gymnast said that "Both good and bad. It was bad because of the injuries that kept us from training. When you learn a skill and you practice it, you get used to it and it’s difficult having to stop training it and start over from scratch. In my opinion, the most important thing is that the good outnumbered the bad. And I’m thinking about the European and Olympic team medals here."

Bulimar is not the only Romanian gymnast who is looking forward on medalling in the all around this year but also her teammate Larisa Iordache.

The first half of 2012 was successful as she won three medals at the European championship including two golds but an Injury prevented Iordache from performing her best at the Olympics however, she managed to help her team to make the podium " I’d say I’m pretty happy with my first senior year. It could have been better but I couldn't do more due to injury. Not being able to help the team properly at the Olympics was the most difficult moment for me. I was very upset about that injury; I really wanted an individual medal as well but I have to put it all behind me and try to improve for the future."

Iordache who had a hard time dealing with her disappointment at the Olympics, said she is aiming on the European and World championships to do what she was prevented from doing in 2012. To do that Iordache is upgrading her routines "I have to upgrade some of my routines. Ok, all of them because I really want to medal in the All-around".

Diana Bulimar and Larisa Iordache helped their to win a bronze medal at the London Olympics.

Gymnast Larisa Iordache comes second in final for Piotr Nurowski Award
londra

Gymnast Larisa Iordache, a member of the national team that represented Romania in the Olympic Games of London, came in second in the final for the Piotr Nurowski Award, being outrun by swimmer Charlotte Bonnet (France), according to a release.

The second place trophy obtained by our gymnast is honouring, both for the athlete and for her trainers, as well for Romania’s image', Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee (COSR) President Octavian Morariu said. ‘In our opinion, Larisa Iordache could have even obtained the big prize, but the result is nevertheless excellent and the gymnast deserves congratulations.’

The distinction, created to be offered to the most valuable young European athlete, was granted by the representatives of the Association of European Olympic Committees (EOC), for the second time since its establishment, within the 41st EOC General Assembly, which took place in Rome at the end of last week.

Together with Larisa Iordache and Charlotte Bonnet, among the five designated finalists there were swimmer Ruta Meilutyte (Lithuania), Alpine skier Marco Schwarz (Austria) and gymnast Oleg Stepko (Ukraine).
The Piotr Nurowski Award was created in 2011 in the memory of the Polish Olympic Committee former president, a distinguished representative of the international Olympics, who perished in a tragic airplane accident in April 2010.

Besides the homage brought to Piotr Nurowski through this award, EOC wants to encourage young athletes to devote themselves to high performance sports and, at the same time, to be an example for the future generations in terms of adopting a healthy lifestyle, based on the Olympic principles and values.

Larisa Iordache conquered the bronze medal in the 2012 OG with the team and was European Champion this year, with the team and in the floor event, and European Vice-Champion in the balance beam event.
